Hag Stone Earrings
The idea of the Hag Stone came from a true “hag stone” presented to me on a bright pink piece of elastic so that I could wear it around my neck. A long time ago (and perhaps still) Hag Stones were seen as lucky stones to be kept in the pocket for protection. They are a stone with a hole all the way through. The hole was made when the sea spun over a pebble in a vortex and very slowly, perhaps over a thousand years, made a hole all the way through. A hag stone was said to help keep us safe if you were lucky enough to find one. It is also said that if you look through the hole in the middle you can see the world as it truly is. You can see fairies, mermaids and perhaps even someone's true character. So when my daughter proudly presented me with my hag stone pendant on its elastic, I thought perhaps it was time someone made a grown up version of it too.
